Commission Requests
Thank you for your interest in the commission process. I am now accepting new commissions for 2024 and 2025. Fill out a Request Form below to have your vision brought to life. But first, here’s an outline of the process and my approach to custom pieces. If you have any additional questions, get in touch here.
The Process
SIZE
The first thing to decide when thinking about a commission is the size of art piece you’d like in your space. I recommend using painter’s tape to map out a few different sizes on your wall to best visualize how it will look.
Some popular painting sizes to consider are: 11” x 14”, 16” x 20”, 18” x 24”, 36” x 36” and 12” x 24”.
INSPIRATION
The best place to start looking for inspiration for your commission is my past work (check out my website’s portfolio). Take note of the paintings you’re drawn to and what you like best about them. Is it the colours, the texture, or the subject matter? I’m also happy to take inspiration from a special photo you’ve personally taken.
SELECTION PROCESS
I can only accept a small number of commissions per year. Unfortunately, a request doesn’t guarantee that I’ll be able to paint your piece.
I select the ideas that I believe will suit my style best and that fill me with excitement so I can create a work we will both love.
PAINTING
If I select your commission, I will send along further questions to be sure that I have a good understanding of your vision. Ideally, we will have short video call to meet and chat about your commission before I begin painting.
My work is only half pre-planned, with a rough sketch and colour ideas decided as a jumping off point. I work best allowing my paintings to develop organically into finished piece with unity and movement.
CREATION PROCESS
Throughout the painting process we’ll have several deadlines and checkin points. I will be committed to hitting target dates to provide you with progress photos, and you’ll likewise have deadlines for providing timely feedback. You’ll be given plenty of time to make these decisions, but you’ll want to make sure you can be reached and can respond once I have began the creation of your commission.
INVESTMENT
My prices for commissioned pieces follow that same rates as my other works. Prices are calculated by size and shipping is included in the cost.
I require for a 20% deposit to begin work on your piece. The remaining balance is due once your painting is complete and ready to be shipped to your home.
